Road works coming to Tempe South

Meeting held 18 May Jul – Aug 2026

What's happening in Tempe South?

Bunnings Group is paying to install speed humps, raised pedestrian crossings, and road markings across nine streets in Tempe South. Inner West Council required these traffic calming works as a condition of approving Bunnings' new store.

Select your street in the panel below to see your exact closure dates, what's being built, and how to get in and out while works are underway.

Background & council documents

Before Bunnings could get development approval for its Tempe store, Inner West Council required it to fund a Local Area Traffic Management scheme — a set of traffic calming improvements on surrounding streets. The plan covers nine streets and was prepared by SSTC Group of Companies.

Four streets will close fully for up to three days each while speed humps are installed. Five streets get a single-day visit for coloured pavement markings at intersections. Union Street gets a permanent 40km/h speed limit with no road works.
